The welcomed arrival of some new material from West Sussex band - A Citizen Above Suspicion - and news that sparked quite a bit of interest here after the enjoyment of their debut last year.  On this latest EP there’s a re-recording of the poignant “Calculi” plus three new songs which only go further to developing the unusual and distinctive sound of this band.

Collectively this is a dark, disconsolate and sober sound that enjoys incorporating a certain amount of keyboards and electronica to extend their enterprise beyond solely guitars.  The vocals often reek of anguish and distain or at very least emit every ounce of emotion possible.  Maybe if you could imagine the antithesis of a Constable painting - no fluffy white clouds and gentle rolling hills here, it’s the brooding dark storm variety that threaten a bleak dreary landscape - done in the way that would befit a Siamese offshoot of Radiohead and Muse. Musically they are quite different but the style and concept is very similar as well as drawing occasional parallels to a youthful Bowie and often united with the desperate psychosis of Mike Patton.

Along with bands such as Soul Destruction, they are providing heavy music a recess of shadowy and atmospheric stylishness that provides an appreciated alternative and that dares to veer from the straight forward and expected.  This eclectic performance imparts upon your mind sinister characters that beguile and intrigue, and which leave behind a desire to become far better acquainted.  We’ve seen the trailers, now please release the full movie.  Bring on the album!
