…and so it was cast upon the earth, a five headed beast that has shared but
only eighteen months of life, which was known to discharge nauseating
bellows and screams while emitting a low frequency thunder and hath appeared
unto mortals about the dwelling of 'Not-Ting-Ham'. It is said in same folk
law that the beast spake equal from five mouths in such horrifying tones “We
lead to its death False Metal and destroy all those that come before us…”
Book of Thoth. Chapter One.
It was with such profundities hanging gravely over humanity like an ink black sky threatening to unleash its gloom filled might, that it came to pass with a vile growl hell itself was unleashed with the sensitively tagged opener “Dutch Fisting”. The awesome doom-laden sludgy, bursts into a heavy, rolling, scream-fest of a song followed by “UFO”, a strange but fun ditty that appears to be based on the same named band’s song “Rock Bottom”. A slight change of tack finds the subtly titled “Being Fucked Over” plunging deep and doomy in a slow grinding Charger drooling over Black Sabbath kind of way, with Mistress injecting moments of pace. “Demonizer” continues but adds more stoner to the sludge and finally, “Murdering The Homeless” quickens up the pace and with less depth, screams its way to completion.
Maybe it’s the combination of the dual vocalists; one screaming and the other growling, both over riffs as thick as pig’s snot, which produces an incredibly heavy sound of grinding metal that’s as mammoth and bazaar as fifteen sumo wrestlers juggling cannonballs. On balance, this is simply an excellent EP from a fun band that manages to deliver the goods without taking it all too seriously. Highly recommended.
…and they heard a great voice out of the temple saying “Go forth and seeketh this sound so there falls a noisome and grievous sore upon all men and worship the image of the beast, for it shall conquer”. Book of Thoth. Chapter Two...
