Dorset band Christa Pike have only been a unit for a short time, but they have already managed to put together this demo and also have plans to record an EP to be released on the fledgling Sound Devastation label.

Their songs are a highly discordant and jarring poke to the auditory senses.  If you’re looking for something gentle or something traditionally easy to deal with, then maybe you’d better stick to Val Doonican and a Christmas jumper because this will confuse the shit out of you. This is metal with a twist of experimentalism and with a real drive to create something that sounds a little different; it grabs the bollocks of Lord Rock and pulls them back through his anus.

With slick song titles that just roll from the tongue, “Jemxyium Lyovu Demih” kicks off into pure liquidised noisecore and occasionally flits with jangly moments, before dropping into an awesome downtuned, thudding and demonically evil riff, and reverting back to the noisecore from which it came. Vocals scream in exclamations of despair and bleed prayers of misery. “This Replacing Bridge Supports Below, Await Your Rescue” bursts into complete chaos, with noises rebounding everywhere as it forms into another equally strong, wicked, downtuned riff, slow and gratingly sludgy, before coming almost to a halt like at the eye of the storm. Progressively, the intensity increases almost to melting point and ends as it begins in total chaos.

Like sticking your face into your mum’s Magimix - on fast - Christa Pike are guaranteed to give you a head fuck.  It is so encouraging to hear a young band conceive something so diverse, as most just tread water in this respect and it holds great hope for what they may produce next. They are definitely one to watch!
