These young Welsh upstarts are hugely determined to take the bull by the
horns where their music is concerned and continue to make massive steps of
progression with every recording. This, their third release in what must be
less than a year, again shows what massive potential they have and what more
they can do when the deserved resources are provided. "Juneau", is a re-work of their crowd favourite "Juno", a song that first appeared on the “Between Order And Model” debut EP last year. Given the opportunity to “make it shine” the band has certainly achieved that, in fact they’ve done an excellent job, creating a very ear friendly and accessible balance of melody with a hard edge and placing an already top quality song on a gleaming platter. This is what emo should be like, emotion, power, stunning vocals and attitude rapped up in well written and catchy song, a combination that is just perfect for a rock single. You could be quite satisfied with just that, but there are two further tracks to be found on this CD. “Getaway Plan” is far heavier, much more aggressive and once it’s settled down occasionally sounds reminiscent of Muse, particularly the dazzling vocal attack. “Kiss And Make Up” is a recording taken from their BBC Radio One Rock Show session, it’s an older recording of an older track and even though it’s still a fine song, it really underlines the progression they have made with "Juneau". Just in case you weren’t sure, this is an astounding single and pushes Funeral For A Friend onto the precipice of prominence. If this doesn’t launch the band into some commercial success, then it’s hard to see what will and there’ll be another severe case of injustice.
