Flushed with inspiration and encouraged by the amount of interest generated by their “...it fell” demo during 2006, London based post-rock instrumental band ‘From The Sky’ have created this their debut EP - released on Sound Devastation Records - showcasing five new songs and marking the next stage in the bands development.

With cascading backdrops of course riffs fronted and shaped by gentle yet exhaustive guitar work, they create simple shades of emotion, which are often tinged with a subtle darkness. It’s a sonic landscape littered with profound detail, a run through seemingly endless meadowland where it appears to be nothing but grass, until you look closer and notice the small flowers, the pasture patterns, the insects, the birds, and the sheer vastness of its ingredient and how beautiful it actually is.

(1) Soothing waves of ambience flow from the speakers, building to a focus of guitars that scour out a brief but defined shape before disappearing into the ether. (2) The twinkling, sparkling moments are carved aside with the sudden urgency of ragged chords dictating the minute before calm is briefly restored waiting for those chords to return, as they do when they are ready. (3) Peppered notes punctuate the tempo, irresolute in their nature they combine slowly but surly to harvest a crescendo of intensity that has goose bumps forming on your arms. (4) Forming an orderly line those same guitars take a route march for the sky with souring melodies that take you tall amongst the clouds, jangling riffs that complement note by note harmonies before bursting together into colour. (5) Imagine a soundscape that takes you tantalising somewhere, but where is unknown. Imagine being surrounded by smoke, stepping slowly one foot in front of another, slowly feeling your way towards a place you have an urgency to reach  - to join the others staring up at the stars and watching the array of fireworks coming from the sky before they explode in your perception.

It’s an awesome journey that leaves you saddened for its ending, feeling like you have shared something quite special and that you wished it could continue without a conclusion, an ending or a finish.  The silence leaves you scrambling for the play button once again, just wanting to get back to that place again. Leave this on repeat and you could be in dreamland forever.
