mahumodo /ma-who-mow-doe/ n. 1. hypnotic, entrancing, spellbinding, soothing, relaxing, mesmerising   2. scorching, smouldering, intense, vigorous, powerful
3. textured, layered, complex   4. momentous, exceptional, significant, incomparable.

This is the bands first official release (on the new shelsmusic label) and is comprised of a consummate harvest of remastered tracks from their previous demo’s, plus a special version of the song ‘aprils’ and two brand new tunes ('4' and 'waves'). It adds up to an awesome package, one that conjures words in your mind that fall outside a conventional review.

Close your eyes and be absorbed into an opaque transparency,
let your troubles be dissolved by stealth.
Move through an impenetrable something,
or don’t. It’s your journey.
Confront the intensity,
remember against such pre-eminence the flow is toward the passion.
The light beguiles the willing, as a lure, as a servant,
and then delivers to the shade, with the brightest light casting the deepest shadow.

It is always a great pleasure to listen to music from Mahumodo, and it’s not just because of the guaranteed quality or the fact that you’re likely to hear nothing else quite like them, but it’s mostly because their songs put you in a unique state of mind. It’s because you don’t merely listen to their music, you experience it - a wave of sound into which you are simply absorbed by the intensity of its passion and brutal melody.

‘Waves’ is certainly no exception to this and if anything is even more of a pleasure, as it offers the opportunity to appreciate their recent work as well as take the listener to where the band are today and prepare them for what is to come. Thirty four minutes of music that should not be missed by anyone that enjoys quality rock and metal, from a band that continues to blaze an indelible mark on the UK scene and with this release can only manage to extend that mark worldwide. Highly recommended.
