Mothercare are a band that are based out of Verona, Italy and have been in existence for quite sometime, being formed back in 1993. They have changed their line-up over that time, have produced three demo's and released a debut mini-CD called "In A Hole" before unleashing this second mini-CD entitled "Fusoku No Kigen" (The Origin Of Dissatisfaction) during the back-end | |
of 2000. All of these releases have been self produced, from
production to mixing and this release represents almost five months in the studio. Track Listing: 01. Mugon This mini-CD features seven tracks, five of which are studio recordings (and a bonus of two live tracks). As mentioned, the production has been handled by the band and a fine job they have done, helping to exhibit their characteristic style to it's best. That style is probably adequately described as a spin on the old-school heavy thrash of Sepultura, Machine Head and Slayer with a new shine, the precision of Fear Factory and a shot of Italian passion. maybe nothing radically
new, but what they do, they do well and produce a big sound that has many
nice touches. The widescreen industrial beats (kind of Fear Factory like) and heavy guitars that tightly follow the chunky rhythm. Lyrics in a mix of languages that include Japanese, Italian and Portuguese as well as English. Intense vocal delivery, often angry and sometimes manic, occasionally spoken but always conveyed with full emotion. Oh, and of course the punctuation of samples in a burnishing of electronica. Indeed, we find enclosed a tail of frustration and anger depicted on a canvas of corpulent chugging guitars, revealing torment on a backdrop of industrialised cadence, with a deranged narration. If you enjoy your metal on the powerful, extreme and violent side, then this could be a band you'll get great pleasure from. They are starting to pickup a little attention from the press, so watch out for more from these blokes and we'll see if they can make their experience tell.
