THE PROPHECY 'To End All Hope' Demo

Ok, gothic style logo… check; church on album cover…. check; band picture in wood…. check. Looks like we have another doom band on our hands, not a bad attempt at all though.

First track 'Silent Descent' sounds very much like 'Swansong' era Carcass, all sneered vocals and death n roll riffs. 'Till Light Enshrouds' starts with a 'done a million times' church bell intro before descending into 'Silent Enigma' era Anathema, all female vocals and ethereal keyboards. The rest of this EP twist and turns all over the place, from rolling Metallica style riffs to more cinematic passages.

The main problem with this band is that they wear their influences on their sleeve. The black doom genre is very difficult to get right, and unfortunately The Prophecy just don't quite nail it. Lets hope they will be able to find their own niche soon.
