Scuttle are from the ever burgeoning Brighton scene and this is their third release. On first listen the most obvious reference point is Boy Sets Fire. The problem I have with emocore or whatever you want to call it, it that there are very few bands who are really pushing the envelope in the genre, unfortunately this release does not offer anything different.

What really lets this release down is the production, the vocals sound very live, melodies are not always in tune and the drums sound very flat. That’s not to say the actual songs are bad.

Scuttle have the potential to make a difference to the UK scene once they have the money behind them, they could fit very nicely into the emocore scene as it is very ‘now’. The time is right but I would suggest that maybe they went back to the drawing board and offered something that will really rock the boat.
