AT THE FALLS

New band to the music scene - Skyfalls - are a 5-piece from Gloucestershire who formed last September and play raw emo-core. This initial two-track demo provides only the briefest of glimpses with just seven minutes of music wrapped in the sound of cascading water. The demo begins with “At The Falls”, powered by a driving riff and hammering drums and soon blended into more melodic moments of gentle vocals accompanied by guitar, before building back to an emotional peak and then slipping seamlessly into song two. “The Change Of Everything Else” follows a similar theme but tends to feel less aggressive and is driven more by melody. Their sound - particularly track two - comes across like a youthful mélange of Lost Prophets and Funeral For A Friend with every effort made to make things sound heavy but also filled with poignant harmony. This is very much a starting point for this band and you have to understand that it is an unadorned, low budget, DIY recording. But look past the fiscal limitations and the expected inexperience and see their enthusiasm which should give them the impetus to gain experience and further train their abilities.
