A four piece band from the south of England that achieved line-up stability and a contentment of chemistry during early 2004, and have recorded this their debut EP with producer John Mitchell (The Blueprint, Funeral For A Friend) and remastered by John Hoang (Charger, threemovements, Crydebris) about 12 months ago. And a remarkable debut it is too, in fact something quite exceptional. “I’m Your Hero…” kicks off with confidence, bouncing echoes of CAVE IN resonantly about your head, with the sweet ‘Brodsky-esque’ vocals and scaling guitars. The remaining 20 minutes are almost entirely instrumental, with quality epic songs “You Are Now Witness…”, “Everything You Did…” and “End Of…” painting sonic pictures, involving scarce vocals with an understanding only to outline the important shapes. From soft aural tones to pummelling riffs, while always building up to a zenith, it’s the intensity of CULT OF LUNA with the stamina of PELICAN, playing a commentarial narrative in an atmospheric enactment of sorrow. And all the while leading you away… …Increasingly you’re drifting, though a place devoid of any natural statement, a desolate emptiness filled with nothing but a single object far in the distance. Approaching, you begin to realise its beauty, a symmetrical magnificence that is amplified by the rush of tranquillity. The awareness of an exit from this capsule of sterility embarks on an argument to leave, to which temptation plays its own part and battling with the want to stay, you’re involuntarily torn from the nearing splendour.
