The last three recordings from I-DEF-I have been reviewed on these pages and all attracted huge praise and created much excitement, so it was going to be interesting to see how their official debut released on Casket Records had turned out. There was no need to worry, as the Defiant devils swarmed across the armoured bulwarks to glut the ferocity of their Bloodlust upon the unsuspecting. Those unwary souls were about to become Casualties… …For they have served up a brutal assault of vocals, rhythms and riffs orchestrated by harmony, precision and melody. It’s delivered with enough gonzo to evoke the most ardent mosher but without blitzkrieg, an abundance of detail and depth to keep plenty of interest and cementing the lot together with a generous and well proportioned fillet of melody. From within their genre, I-DEF-I have to be writing some of the most finely crafted songs to be found anywhere at the moment. Songs such as “Devil In The Vein”, “The Hourglass Turns”, “Sorrow Reigns This Day” and “The Last Element Of Doubt” are all exceptional. And the second half of “...Last Element…” sums up that quality, with musical melodies and vocals that not only show a massive maturity but would have concrete growing goosebumps. They have produced the perfect amalgam of metalized hard rock and with a voice to die for, songs of the highest quality and musicianship to match; it will be a heinous crime if this band doesn’t go far.
