Sikh are a four piece band from Nice in France and have been together since 2001. Their debut album came out back in October 2005, so it’s been quite a wait for new material to arrive and actually took them a year in the studio, but they have finally released their second album entitled 'One More Piece'.

Kicking off strongly with “The Quake”, this is a song which has an infectious groove and includes a cool bouncing, funky bass line. ”5 Seasons” continues a pleasing pattern of strong melody (particularly in chorus), while maintaining a pounding heaviness throughout. “Hammering The Sun” is back into the groove of choppy, heavy bass and thudding drums that combine with grinding guitars, while “Ocean” simply bleeds sorrow and passion.

“Ballad Of The Harmless” slows things down and although the track feels dispensable does perform its purpose of the lull before the storm, the storm being the next song “Psychotro” and the lull makes the battering riffs seem even heavier. The title track does not disappoint either with its near evil brutality and late change of tempo near the end that adds to its devilishness.

It’s an album full of gravely vocals that range through characterful singing to full on bellows and flailing roars, its rough guitars hacking their way through track after track with a solid and very tight rhythm section.  At times you hear elements of One Minute Silence, RATM, Mudvayne, Soundgarden and during the song “Hollywood” there is even a suggestion of Slipnot.

Sikh have presented eleven songs that are strong throughout with few moments of let up, keeping momentum flowing for all but the briefest of well timed rest bites and occasionally grinding into almost a sludgy grudge. They are songs that unveil a solid identity and that all come together to perform a cracking album.
