This is the latest demo from Leicester four-piece Black River Project. It is entitled “Subhuman” and has been independently recorded and financed by the band. Here they have produced another four immensely enjoyable and heavy songs of overdriven distorted guitars, which switch between high-pace thrashes and slow grinding riffs and of course contain the trademark McGlennon deathly growl. It’s so incredibly low and inhuman, he must be Satan! As with their last EP, be prepared to have your ears raped, this isn’t for the faint hearted. Its uncompromising metallic thrash, devilishly demonic and designed to frighten your mother shitless. Like Testament meets Obituary, they are as heavy as fuck with total disregard for anything and everything except enjoying what they do. But what sets them apart is that although they essentially create a sound of heavy thrash metal layered with deathly undertones, there is often an accessible element to the songs with very memorable riffs and sometimes almost containing a hook! No, God forbid!
