An Essex based band formed in November 2000
- originally as five members called
Machine-Made-Man - but during 2003 with significant changes in personnel, they also
decided on a name change - to threemovements. Out
goes Paul Johnson (Bass), Steve Johnson (Drums/Programming) and James Anstee (Records/Samples)
and in comes Liam Davis, Rhys Iffland, Ian Smith and Joseph Smith and they
move to being a six piece.
Liam Davis (Guitar/Beats/Samples/Keyboards) Not wishing to waste what they had already achieved with Machine-Made-Man, they have continued to advance their very individual sound, drawing on their diverse influences while remaining focused and striving further. Along the way they have made some very influential allies - with one of those being Charger frontman Martin Ives, who has been a long time admirer of their musical maelstrom and heartfelt live shows. He has signed them to his Calculated Risk Products label and their debut release 'Electricity Wiped Out Heaven' is partly a result of this collusion. Their sound has been described as cinematic, expansive, grandiose and epic, though completely lacking in pretension and self-indulgence. If you like your music to be a little bit different and always with an endeavour to be original, then you will be amply rewarded by checking out the rather splendid thereemovements.
