Wyeside Music Festival

Friday 5th and Saturday 6th June, 2009 @ King George V Playing Fields, Hereford, ENGLAND.

Imagine the almost inconceivable thought of a free music festival that featured in excess of 30 bands performing over two days, in a huge marquee on the banks of the river Wye. Well actually that describes Hereford’s Wyeside Music Festival, an event that has taken place every year since 2005 and continues to be the city’s premier music event.

It has been the brainchild of and organised by Steve Symonds who on the weekend of the 5th and 6th June bravely stuck his neck on the block again, both financially and logistically, to host the major highlight of musical entertainment for the people of Hereford.  The difficult economic circumstances that 2009 had bequeath us meant there was very little external funding available and so it was an enormous tribute to Steve and his team that such a great event was still achieved.

It was also a festival that was made enjoyable for fans of almost any style of music, by the eclectic band list that covered genres from Heavy Metal to Acoustic Reggae, Alternative Folk to Hip Hop/Rap, Blues to Funk and Indie through to Dance. There was an interesting prerequisite that any band playing at the festival had to be unsigned and have a set of original songs.

There follows below a list of all the bands that played and where appropriate links to individual reviews of their performances.
